The Pooka Project
Nothing I’ve done in the way of art compares in outrageousness, absurdity, or just plain fun to what we have now dubbed The Pooka Project. This started with a green portrait of a rabbit (as one of my Party Animals) whose expression is, to say the least, goofy. I titled the painting Party Pooka as an homage to the very endearing Jimmy Stewart film “Harvey”, in which his invisible six foot companion was a “pooka” : defined as “a spirit from Irish folklore, mischievous but not malevolent”. The painting was spoken for as soon as it was exhibited, leaving several other people clamoring for it. I decided to paint another, similar image. Same result. Well, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to recognize that bunnies breed.
